RX Day / Night lighting
Photoshop
January 2009

I did this piece as a light exercise - please click the image for a larger version. The building itself is a totally automated walk-up pharmacy. It's intended to live in the near future, so I wanted it to look slightly atypical but practical in both construction and function. If the operation need's to close (due to technical outages or security concerns) a shutter closes over the entryway and the two gray stairs slide forward to block the stairwell.
I started out with a pencil sketch (4 hours), and colored it in Adobe Photoshop (7 hours for daylight version, 8 hours for the night).
Here's a detail of the screen interface. In a game environment I would imagine this display to loop a 'customer welcome' vid, with the woman addressing the customer directly as a pharmacist would. Work like this makes me envy animators - every time I depict something that's intended for movement I wind up wishing I could take the time to bring the idea fully to life.
