Flipper hatchling Photoshop October 2008
I drew this guy for fun - I had intended to go full-blown alien here, but ended up giving the face some human features to anchor it in reality a bit. The creature at this stage of development is outgrowing the pod in which it was born, slowly feeding off of it as it expands. Work like this is fun for me because it begs the questions of "if that's the baby, what do it's parents look like?". Also, I get a kick out of drawing gnashing teeth.
I started with a 10% gray marker rough-sketch, then moved in with graphite to fill out the details (1.5 - 2 hours). It's colored in Adobe Photoshop CS2 (1 hour).
